Pitlochry and the wider Perthshire area is one of the world’s most famous areas for Salmon fishing with the 119 mile River Tay dominating the county.

The nearby River Tummel which flows right through Pitlochry boasts a lengthly salmon fishing season which opens on the 15th of January and finishes on the 15th of October each year and is a classic Scottish fly fishing river with beautiful streamy fly fishing pools and intermittent deeper water where salmon are always present right throughout the season.

Fishing on Loch Faskally

Pitlochry Boating Station is set on the picturesque shores of Loch Faskally just a 5 minute drive from Atholl Palace Hotel and offers some of the best fishing in Pitlochry. Loch Faskally gets on average 5500 salmon passing through its waters each year, which makes it a fantastic location for salmon fishing along with brown trout, pike and perch. Why not hire a boat and take it on Loch Faskally for the day with a wide range of boats available. Full fishing equipment is also available for hire.

All those who want to fish on Loch Faskally are required to have a valid fishing permit which is available from the Pitlochry Boating Station or online.
